Robert W. Matanky began working during summers in high school and college as a union apprentice carpenter and an apprentice electrician. He concurrently serves as President of Matanky Realty Group, a commercial real estate firm, and Matanky & Matanky Ltd., a law firm concentrating in business and commercial real estate. He is involved in every phase of development and construction. A licensed attorney, real estate broker and insurance broker, Mr. Matanky is a leader in his profession and earned a BS in Engineering with honors from University of Illinois at Chicago, a JD with honors from IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law, and an MBA with a concentration in finance from The University of Chicago. Mr. Matanky has a strong background in construction with hands-on experience. He has worked on hundreds of multi-family, retail, commercial and industrial projects, and uses his experience and working knowledge as a guide in all of the firm’s construction and development ventures.
Mr. Matanky is a member of the Real Estate Investment Association (REIA) and served as a member of its Board of Directors from 1990-2003. He also served as a National Group Vice President of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Real Estate Securities and Syndication Institute (RESSI) in 1989-1990, and earned the designation of Specialist in Real Estate Securities (SRS) from RESSI in 1985. In 1992, he earned the NAR designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). He has served as a legislative contact for the Illinois Association of Realtors and as a member of the Arbitration Committee and the Group Investment Council of the Chicago Association of Realtors. He is a member of the Northern Illinois Commercial Association of Realtors and the Illinois State Bar Association, and serves on the Real Property Law and Continuing Legal Education committees for the Chicago Bar Association.
Mr. Matanky is a past president of The Decalogue Society of Lawyers and currently serves as president of The Decalogue Foundation. He has served and continues to serve in numerous leadership capacities in philanthropic, educational and community building organizations, and has been recognized with numerous honors for his leadership and commitment.
Listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the Midwest, Mr. Matanky has lectured on real estate topics for a number of institutions including the University of Illinois, IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law, the National Association of Realtors, the Chicago Association of Realtors, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers and the Chicago Jewish Historical Society.
